Service Job Line Codes

Enhancement Overview

We’ve introduced Service Job Line Codes to help users add commonly used service lines more quickly and consistently. These codes act as pre-configured templates that can be selected from a service job, inserting default information such as description, G/L account, UOM, unit cost and unit price.

This enhancement is designed to reduce manual entry and improve consistency when adding repeat service items, such as cleaning, scaffolding, antifouling, pressure washing or engine servicing.

This enhancement functionality is only available in version 28.5 or later of EliteParks or EliteMarinas. View which version you are on in the Extension Management view within Business Central.

How It Works

Service Job Line Codes are organised into groups. Examples of some Group Codes that could be used:

Within each group, users can create individual codes with default values.

Users can then open a Service Job, select Add Line Code, choose the relevant group and code and the line is inserted with its configured defaults. The quantity and cost can then be adjusted as needed.

Important

The document notes that Line Codes do not replace Job Types. They are intended for ad hoc additions to service jobs.

Why Is It Useful?

This enhancement helps service teams work faster and more accurately. Rather than manually entering the same service lines again and again, users can select from pre-configured codes that already contain the correct description, pricing basis, UOM, cost, price, and posting information.

It also supports more consistent billing. By standardising common service lines, businesses can reduce variation between users and help ensure customers are quoted and invoiced using agreed service descriptions and prices.
