Enhancement Overview
We’ve enhanced Maintenance Jobs so they can be created for external contact units, such as visiting boats or vehicles that are not already registered as units in the system.
This gives maintenance teams more flexibility when managing work for non-resident or visiting customers. Instead of needing a formal unit record before work can be logged, users can capture the external contact unit details directly on the Maintenance Job.
🔷 ImportantThis enhancement functionality is only available in version 28.5 or later of EliteParks or EliteMarinas. View which version you are on in the Extension Management view within Business Central.
How It Works
When creating a Maintenance Job, users can set the entity to Contact Unit and enter details about the external boat, vehicle, or unit.
The enhancement also supports customer creation from the Maintenance Job where a Customer Template has been configured in Park Management Setup. If the Customer Template is blank, the Create Customer button will not appear.
The three Entity types available to choose from are:
Entity | Description | When to Use |
Unit | System-registered unit | Internal maintenance |
Contact Unit | External boat or vehicle | Visiting boat/unit repairs |
Rental Item | Rental Item | Rental maintenance |

Why Is It Useful?
This enhancement gives maintenance teams a more practical way to handle work for visiting customers or external units. For marinas, this could include repairs or servicing for a boat that is not permanently stored on-site. For parks, it could support cases where work needs to be recorded against an external vehicle or visiting unit.
It also helps reduce administrative friction. Teams can record the work, capture the contact unit details, create a customer where required and continue managing the job through the normal maintenance process. This makes chargeable maintenance work easier to manage without forcing every external item to become a standard system unit first.
